| DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MBA AND PGDM |
|
PGDM programme offers more autonomy. Autonomy is essential perquisite for running a management institute and for facilitating students in the various processes and sub- processes for their career development in all spheres of management. Autonomy helps in building, maintaining and updating academic infrastructure of the multi-disciplinary management programme. Adding/modifying courses continually to meet the relevance of dynamic business world, continuous evaluation to motivate higher level of performance, usage of modern pedagogical tools like case methods, simulation games, role play, seminars, projects and presentations are integral part of vibrant learning environment. |

For the award of MBA, an institution has to get affiliated with the University structure and its bureaucracy and thus losing its flexibility, spontaneity of vibrant learning system. |

| OBJECTIVES OF THE PGDM PROGRAMMES |

This PGDM is the flagship programme of SCBM, Lucknow. The programme has been designed keeping in the mind the requisite demand of the industry in consultation with the industry experts. The objective of the programme is developing young graduates with a high level of professional management skills. SCBM, Lucknow intends to add several other industry relevant courses such as Retail Management, Risk Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Total Quality Management in the near future. |

The SCBM firmly believes in the fact that theory without practice is merely letters without spirit. To supplement the theoretical knowledge, efforts are made to provide practical inputs in various forms including industrial visits. Professionals from the Corporate world as well share their practical experiences with the students. But the fact remains that practice can’t be done without knowing theory. Hence we try to have highly interactive class room sessions to lay sound foundation of management theories upon which the students can build up. |

| STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAMME |
|
The PGDM Programmes comprises of four semesters. The first two semesters primarily focus on compulsory courses covering foundation and various functional areas of management. Semesters third and fourth include integrative courses in management and electives from various areas of specialization. The student undertakes summer project study during the vacation period between the second and third semesters. |
| ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT |
|
Assessment in the PGDM programme is an ongoing and continuous process. It emphasises development of personal and professional competence as well as gaining of business knowledge and skills. Students, therefore need to perform consistently at high academic levels. They would be expected to work under considerable pressure, as the programme is highly demanding in both their requirement of time and quality of output. Through the Performance Appraisal system of the Institute, it is ensured that the students will be capable of performing with a very high level of efficiency and cater suitably to the needs of industry. The evaluation system ensures that students develop an aptitude for working in challenging conditions.
This holistic evaluation system enables the students to monitor their performance through their participation in a variety of learning activities such as class participation, case presentations, assignments, quizzes, term papers, mid-term and end-term examinations and general conduct and behaviour in the course of their stay at the Institute. |
| ATTENDANCE |
|
Attendance in all academic and institutional activities is compulsory. Those students who fail to meet attendance requirement of 75% in a course will not be eligible to appear in the end semester examinations. |
| AWARD OF POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA |
|
Those who successfully complete the two-year full-time programmes are awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The Post Graduate Diplomas in Management are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. |
